Growing up in a musical family in Scotland, June began learning traditional fiddle at an early age, from her father and grandfather. After a brief foray into formal lessons, she set down her fiddle for many years. Celtic minded friends on Hornby Island convinced her to pick it up again, and she realized that there was serious fun to be had with this music. Her Grandfather's fiddle joined her on the West Coast and in her hands it now plays a mix of music from Scotland, Ireland, New England and Quebec. Currently, June has fun playing and teaching on Hornby and Denman Islands and at festivals and workshops throughout BC and Washington. |
Born near Kingston, Ontario, Adrian began to devour musical instruments like candy when his family brought him west to Victoria at age 7. Having played thirteen years of piano, twelve years of violin, four years on the viola, eight years of rollicking fiddle music, five years on the accordion, and the occasional pass at the guitar, he's an extraordinary professional musician who is well beyond his years. Everything he touches turns to brilliant sound. When not touring Canada and worldwide, performing with The Bills, Adrian has worked with several orchestras in and around Victoria. He also teaches privately and instructs at various camps and workshops around B.C. |

Jennie hails originally from Ontario where she began playing fiddle at the age of four. She had training with several teachers in several styles including Suzuki, celtic, cajun and old-time fiddle. After a brief bout of fiddle competitions, she started playing in bands professionally, recording many albums and touring festivals, pubs, orchestra pits and concert halls, most recently with her own group, "Prydwen". She also performs with "Back Door", and with Boris Sichon. In addition, she works as a producer and engineer in Annwyn Studios. Always interested in expanding her musical borders, Jennie also loves delving into blues and rock fiddle improvisation. Jennie teaches fiddle in Mission BC, and her workshops focus mainly upon rhythmic improvisation with traditional tunes. |
Calvin is a well known Canadian fiddler, teacher and musical entertainer, perhaps best known for his widely popular band, The Romaniacs. He has toured around the world and across Canada with Stringband, The Romaniacs, and The Bill Hilly Band. Calvin's career in theatrical music began with the Caravan Stage Company, touring in horse drawn wagons across North America in the late 1970's and early 1980's. In 1994, Calvin took up residence on Saltspring Island and began teaching fiddle, using a blend of The Colour String Method and the early Suzuki repertoire leading to a programme of international folk fiddling styles. He founded the Saltspring Fiddlers before moving to Victoria in 1996. He presently teaches at the Victoria Conservatory of Music where he has established the Conservatory Fiddlers Orchestra, an ensemble of over forty fiddlers, ages six to eighty-six. |
